Researching and teaching interdisciplinary knowledge transfer with focus on material science and materials identities. He is an Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry and Senior Research Manager “New Materials and Composites” at Innventia, a Research Institute working for the Pulp, Paper and Packaging industries. Mikael is also a PI (Principal Investigator) in the Strategic Competence Centre for Biomimetic Fiber Engineering, BioMime at KTH. He has developed a concept for integrated materials and product design, Hierarchic Design, which has been presented booth at scientific conferences and in Milan 2007 and 2010 and at the contemporary museum of modern design during the Milan design week 2009.
